
Following Scott Forstall’s departure at Apple last October, and the executive shuffle that took place at the company as a result, Apple design guru Jony Ive took on s greater role at the company as the new VP of Human Interface – and as many noted, that meant Jony Ive would be more involved with the design of iOS and other Apple platforms. Speculation quickly led many to believe that future versions of iOS could drop the skeumorphic design elements that Forstall seemed so fond of, in favor of Ive’s preference towards cleaner, flatter designs.

Microsoft Bribes Developers With $100 for Each Windows 8 App They Submit

It’s no secret that Microsoft’s Windows 8 platform, including Windows 8 for the desktop, Windows RT, and Windows Phone 8, aren’t exactly off to a booming start – but Microsoft hopes that a little bribery might change all that! The company is now offering developers a $100 incentive for each app they submit to their app market. It’s a bit of an odd strategy – while a $100 incentive might encourage developers to submit quick, simple apps, such as “eBooks as apps,” flashlight utilities, or other apps that can be cracked out in a few hours, it’s unlikely to draw attention from major developers, or developers working on more complex or more significant apps
