DevJuice: Apple’s ObjC-JavaScript Bridge
In a new post at his Steamclock Software blog, Nigel Brooke writes how Apple has added new Objective-C to Javascript bridging to WebKit: “This new API supports straightforward embedding of the JavaScriptCore interpreter into native Objective-C projects, including reading and writing variables and object members with appropriate type coercion, calling methods on JavaScript objects, and directly binding Objective-C objects into JavaScript.” The API performs its bridging using Objective-C protocols, enabling you to bind JavaScript calls to Objective-C implementations. DevJuice: Apple will no longer accept apps that use UDID calls starting May 1

Apple has posted a warning on their developer news site that they will no longer accept apps that reference the unique device identifier, starting May 1. It writes, “Starting May 1, the App Store will no longer accept new apps or app updates that access UDIDs.

Activist, RSS creator Aaron Swartz dead at 26

On Friday, the 26-year-old polymath Aaron Swartz was found dead in his apartment, the result of an apparent suicide. Swartz contributed his intellect and effort to an astonishing number of technologies and political causes, including collaborating on Reddit’s early development. At the age of 14, Swartz co-authored the 1.0 version of the RSS specification, enabling millions of news sites and blogs to share their posts easily and consistently
