With the ridiculous number of photo manipulation apps available for the iPhone , it’s sometimes easy to forget that Apple’s smartphone can actually be a powerful video editing platform as well. Developer Algoriddim aims to prove this by bringing its popular iPad video mashup app, vjay , to the iPhone , along with all of the bells and whistles of its bigger brother. If you didn’t catch our original vjay review for the tablet , let me give you a refresher: The app’s marquee feature is the ability to mix multiple videos together into mashups.

AOL brings its On network to the iPhone and iPad



AOL launched its On network earlier this year, and today, it released a universal iOS app that’ll let users watch On video content using their iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. The AOL On app lets users browse content from AOL as well as its partners Martha Stewart Living, Omnimedia, E! and Travel Channel. There are about 420,000 clips in the video library that span a variety of topics like technology, food, health, home and more.

Apple posts video of iPhone 5 event



Apple has posted a stream of September 12′s keynote event , where it introduced the iPhone 5, new iPod nano, new iPod touch and gave a sneak peak of an October overhaul of iTunes. Generally the video stream of these events is of middling to decent quality; a higher-quality version should be uploaded to the iTunes Store later today if you’d rather wait for that.

Avid Studio for iPad loses support, replaced with Pinnacle Studio



You might get a surprise when you open Avid Studio on the iPad today. A pop-up message advises users that the app won’t get any more support. Users are urged to download Pinnacle Studio , a similar high-end editing app owned by Corel.

Remove the Audio Track from a Video with iMovie



We’ve shown you a few ways to extract the audio from a video file, but what if you want to remove the audio track from a movie completely? Although it can’t be done right in the Finder like extracting , it is very easy to ditch the background audio do with the help of iMovie: Open iMovie and pull down the File menu, selecting “Import” followed by “Movies” and locate the movie you want to strip audio from Drag the video from the Event viewer into the Project library Right-click on the video and choose “Detach Audio” to split the video from the audio track, the audio attack will appear in purple below the video track Click the purple audio track and hit the Delete key to remove the audio Now you can either record a new voiceover, add a new audio track, or just export the video with no audio at all There are other methods to do this using third party tools, but iMovie is bundled with most Macs these days and it makes quick work of the process.
